You all I have been wanting this blanket from Anthropologie!!
Like a lot!
But with the price tag being a little steep for my liking, I decided to make my own!
I already had a blanket that I had purchased from Target awhile back. Nate Berkus for that matter, so totally cute!
I thought it would be perfect to add navy tassels to the navy trim already on the blanket.
While at the grocery store, I finally remembered to pick up the yarn and now I was ready to go!
Besides the yarn, you will need all these things below, along with some scissors.
You can see I already made a tassel here.
You need two pieces of cardboard. I used roughly 3x5 pieces for my tassels.
Take a piece of your yarn, a little longer than your cardboard and place it sandwiched between the
two.
Now start wrapping your yarn around the cardboard....the more you wrap, the fatter the tassel.
Now pull the piece of yarn sandwiched between the two pieces of cardboard and tie a knot
and cut the bottom strings.
heres your tassel!
Now its time to tie a knot around it and finish it off
here you can see where your tassel top is...this is what you will sew to the blanket.

Your string is tied around the top and this is what your tassel looks like now.
Before I sew on the tassel, I like to give them a little trim to keep them nice and neat!
Now just take a little needle and thread and sew them on.
There you have it...a sweet little tassel blanket at a much better price!

Have you all been hoping for warmer weather as much as we have around here?
Oh winter, you just aren't doing it for me anymore. I mean I loved your months when you brought me visits from family, good food and of course the gifts. But that's over now and I'm moving on....I've decided I want to start seeing Spring!
Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way. Oh what is a girl to do?
Well, I say embrace this cold weather and cozy up with your favorite must haves to get you through the last few winter months.
Most winter days you can find me curled up by the fire...seriously ours must be on 24/7! That phrase always makes me giggle a little...our fireplace is on. Not, we have a fire going or we built a fire. There is no building of any kind over here....we flip a switch. I do miss the old wood burning kind of way, but I will take this over no fire any day!
Oh, how it just makes the room that much cozier.
If I'm not by the fire then you will probably find me in my bed.
It's seriously my favorite place to be. When I was pregnant, I sometimes would crawl in at 7:30!
I'm just a huge believer in comfy bedding with lots of down comforters and pillows! Everyone should have a big bed full of fluffy blankets and crisp sheets...at least I think so. I've been thinking about new ones lately and I have my eye on some from Parachute Home. I mean Valentines Day is right around the corner. (Just a little hinting there, in case my hubby happens to read this post)  Doesn't hurt to try!
Oh and of course my favorite Christmas gift this year was this cream fur blanket from my sweet friend....heaven!
 Chunky socks y'all!
I usually have the coldest feet all winter long so if you stop by any weekend day during these chilly winter months, you're going to find me wearing the biggest, chunkiest, wooly socks I can find while drinking coffee as I scour through my interior design books and Pinterest...um, can you say perfect day!

But there is no place I would rather be while the snow is falling outside than with my girl's, curled up right along beside me while we sip on cocoa and watch movies all weekend long!
Oh Spring I really wish you would hurry it up but until then this is where I will be....hidden under the covers as cozy as can be!
(the rhyming was purely by accident, but I left it in there anyway:)
Ever since I can remember I have loved interior decor.
I remember one time when I was probably around twelve years old. We had gone to see a family friends home and it was my first time visiting. I will never forget being completely transfixed on the decor in the home. I was in awe of the floral window treatments, the white tiled countertops and the babies nursery...all white and wood! When we returned home that night I asked my mother if I could do some decorating of my own? She gave me the go ahead, so off I went, tearing off the backs of Readers Digest to frame and hang in my bathroom, stealing pink and blue heart wreaths hanging on the wall in our home to hang in my room. I even begged to have a peg rail hung in my room so I could hang candles from it! Okay, it was the early nineties people!
It felt like it was just something in my blood. It was that thing..dare I say.. I was good at for no particular reason. I wish I would have harnessed this talent years ago. But never say never!
All this reminiscing does have a point to it.....

I don't know about you all but when I find a fabric I love I want it everywhere. I've been looking for some new Ikat fabric for awhile now and I finally found some that I love. I also like to change up the pillows on my sofa frequently because it sets a new tone for the room and its very cost efficient!
I'm really working on a more organized home with a lot less stuff to fuss over so each purchase has to be made with actual thought involved!
I love how neutral the new pillows keep the room and as you can see the amount of color in here is becoming less and less. If you have figured me out at all, well then you know I'm perfectly fine with that. I can appreciate lots of color in other peoples homes and kind of envy it. But its not what I gravitate towards.  I have also discovered that a more neutral palette makes me feel calmer and way more comfortable which is in my opinion exactly how your home should make you feel.
In my need to declutter I added some boxes to the bottom of the book cases to keep my ever growing magazine collection a little tidier.  My husband questions my need to keep issues of Domino from 2006 but you all don't...do you:)
Something else you may have noticed is that the rug is gone!
Well, its not gone completely, just relocated to the upstairs because our lovely little terrier likes to do unmentionable things to it and my hearts stops every time I see something else he has done! So for now we are rug free and yes my anxiety level is lower but I dislike not having a rug in here so I'm doing a little research and I will share what I come up with!

Lastly, my new chair from TOV furniture. Oh what a beauty and at 34.5 inches across it's become the perfect snuggle chair for me and my girls! I have this idea lingering in the back of my head about possibly one more in here with a linen Chesterfield....hmmm, a girl can dream!
We'll see what happens with all that!

So this is our current sink situation below..... (insert sarcastic tone) lovely right?!?

When we built this house I begged the builder to please install a farm sink before we moved in. That was when I was under the delusion we could use the drop in one from Ikea. That was before I understood cabinet sizes and how not every sink fits in every cabinet. No laughing please.
Because they are not a custom builder, the answer was no and so we decided that it would just be done later. Well, later has stretched out to two years now and yesterday I finally ordered our sink.
The reason this has taken so long isn't because we weren't in any hurry, it was that its been a total pain trying to figure out how this was all going to go down!
Our cabinet is a standard 33 inch. But its wedged between the dishwasher and a 90 degree corner! Ugh!
Trying to figure out how to retrofit a standard farm sink with a 9 inch front apron was leading us to one road block after the other! The company that made our cabinets didn't offer a 33 inch apron sink cabinet...only 30 inch or 36 inch and having new doors made wasn't really something we wanted to do.
Whats a farm loving sink girl to do!?!?!
Well things finally started looking up when I stumbled across this
Say hello to the Kohler Whitehaven cast iron self trimming apron front sink!!
I think she is the prettiest! I would love to have a deeper apron but at this point I will take it because not only does it give me the look I want, its actually going to fit in our existing cabinet!
The front of the apron is only 6 11/16 inches so its a perfect fit but the bowl drops to 9 5/8 inches so I will still get that deep basin sink I have been longing for.
Im so excited to finally have a sink on the way and our small kitchen reno underway!
Now its time to chose a faucet and Im thinking about something like these below.
I can't wait to keep you all updated on our progress....talk soon!

The holiday season is in full swing and I can feel that buzz of energy starting to fill the house. Its only a tiny humming right now but in the next couple weeks it will turn in to full blown jingle bells!!
I can't help but deck the halls because well, its my most favorite part of the holidays.
That and watching the excitement grow in my little ones as the days become fewer and fewer until the big man arrives!
This year I want to keep things simple. I want the house to have the warmth of the holidays but not lose itself in all of those decorations! Thats why we have decided to scale back on the three trees we usually put up and the word "simplify" is what I keep repeating in my head. I want the girls to grow up in a home where we celebrate the season by being together as a family, welcoming in friends, eating, drinking and being truly grateful for the gifts we receive every single day. It is so easy to get caught up in it all....the wants are poison for the soul and this time of year can be especially challenging.

That is why when I saw this sign from Between You and Me I knew it was perfect for our home.
Love grows best in little houses. Oh this is so true for us. I speak from real experience here. If you are new here and you don't know my story, well then you should know that this is our seventh home. We have had our fair share of houses and all different. Some were much bigger then our home is now and some were smaller. But our happiness has never changed with the size of our home. I want my kids to always be close to me. I want to hear their laughter from the other room and yes, I even want to hear the arguing...it helps me, help them, solve the issue a little faster...not always but most of the time. I like living in a home where I don't need a monitor to hear if my baby needs me. Now, please believe me when I say that I by no means think my house is tiny! We are quite blessed with our home but again its no mcmansion either...its just simply perfect for us.
Its the perfect message for our family and exactly how I want us to be...so close we can't help but talk to each other. So close we don't miss a thing. My babies are growing faster than I would really like to believe so keeping them close to me is more important to me than anything else!
If you haven't heard of Between You and Me Signs, first I can't even believe that, but you must visit their shop. They are making some truly beautiful pieces! I have a running wish list in their shop and I'm hoping that one day I have a house full of their amazing work!
Another piece of their work is hanging in our family room. It is a custom piece and the lyrics to one of my favorite Mumford and Sons song Below My Feet.
It's one of those songs that you listen to and it moves you. It speaks about what so much of us experience during our early years. Being young, not worrying about the future, not needing anything but yourself to rely on and then one day you wake up and you can't handle it all by yourself, you never could. You realize that you need more, you need Jesus. This song speaks to me because I too needed my savior. I needed to know that God really loved me! What I didn't know was that he had been with me all along, I just needed to come to him. When I did, I was greeted with open arms and he wrapped them around me and has never let go. It always makes me a little teary eyed when I hear it because I'm so thankful to know Gods grace. Now I have those lyrics hanging on my wall to remind me of this everyday.
I'm so happy to have found their shop! I have these two amazing signs in my home, both of them bringing so much joy and reminding us of the things that we hold dear as a family.
I'm getting ready to order another sign for a friends house warming gift and now is a perfect time for you to do some shopping of your own because Between You and Me Signs is offering all my readers a 15% off discount today through December 31st!
